Samson Fatu: Trusting God's Timing on the Road to Weber State

For Samson Fatu, his senior season at Notre Dame High School was about more than football. It was about perseverance, faith, and trusting God's plan through every step of the journey.
During his final high school season, Fatu served as a physical and imposing presence on Notre Dame's offensive line. Possessing a massive frame, outstanding length, and impressive mobility for his size, he consistently controlled the point of attack and created movement in the run game. Throughout a competitive 6-6 season, he consistently created advantages at the line of scrimmage and established himself as a tone-setter in the trenches.
Fatu helped anchor an offensive line that produced 1,879 rushing yards, averaged 6.6 yards per carry, and scored 33 rushing touchdowns. Individually, he was highly effective in pass protection, surrendering just two sacks in 12 games. His ability to create movement at the point of attack and protect the quarterback helped Notre Dame operate efficiently on offense while providing strong protection for quarterback Wyatt Brown, who has since continued his football career at West Virginia.
A physical and technically sound blocker, Fatu combines power, leverage, and footwork to overwhelm defenders. Whether opening running lanes or holding his ground in pass protection, he consistently demonstrated the qualities coaches look for in an interior offensive lineman. His size, strength, and movement skills helped establish him as a standout presence on the offensive front during his senior campaign.
While his play on the field earned attention, Fatu credits his faith as the foundation that carried him through the recruiting process.
"I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason," Fatu said. "The good times, the bad times, the challenges, and the victories all serve a purpose and teach valuable lessons that ultimately come together according to God's plan."
Throughout his senior year, Fatu remained motivated by his trust in God, believing that every obstacle and opportunity would eventually lead to a greater blessing.
"My motivation has always been rooted in faith, trusting that God would guide and protect me every step of the way," he said. "Everyone's path is different, and God has a unique plan for each of us."
That path ultimately led him to Weber State, where he earned a full-ride scholarship at the conclusion of his senior season.
"My path led me to earning a full-ride scholarship to Weber State at the end of my senior year," Fatu said. "This opportunity is a true reflection of God's timing and a reminder that His plans are always greater than our own."
Looking back on his final high school season, Fatu sees every challenge, lesson, and opportunity as preparation for the next chapter. Armed with a powerful blend of size, physicality, and unwavering faith, Fatu heads to Weber State confident that the same trust in God's plan that guided him through high school will continue to lead the way at the next level.
