2027 DL Xavier Brooks Goes From zero-star to Three-Star According to Rivals

Laguna Beach defensive lineman Xavier Brooks entered his senior season as an unranked prospect. Just weeks into the season, that has changed.

Brooks is now a three-star prospect according to Rivals, earning an 86 rating and ranking as the No. 165 defensive lineman nationally and No. 120 overall prospect in California for the 2027 class.

The recognition follows a productive junior season at Laguna Beach. According to MaxPreps, Brooks finished the year with 73 total tackles, 50 solo tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 13 sacks and 35 quarterback hurries, along with three caused fumbles.

Despite those numbers, Brooks began his senior year without a recruiting ranking.

His first Division I opportunity arrived on the same day as Laguna Beach's season opener. Earlier that day, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders extended Brooks his first offer.

Hours later, Brooks opened his senior season against Yorba Linda with eight tackles and two sacks.

He followed that performance with six tackles against Orange, eleven against Shadow Ridge and five against Westlake, giving him 30 total tackles through the first four games of his senior season, according to MaxPreps.

Brooks entered the season without a star rating. After four games, a Division I offer and continued production on the field, Rivals now recognizes him as a three-star prospect.
