2027 Underrated Prospects to Watch: Canyon High School (Anaheim, CA)
Canyon High enters the 2026 season with a new era underway under first-year head coach Vinnie Lopez. Lopez arrives with a proven track record after compiling a 67-38 record over 10 seasons as a head coach at Pacifica and El Rancho while earning multiple Coach of the Year honors. As the Cobras begin their first season under Lopez, several underrated seniors will be counted on to help lead the program and could see their recruiting stock rise with strong senior campaigns.
Noah McClary | WR | 6'0", 185 lbs
A First Team All-League selection, Noah McClary enters his senior season after another highly productive year at Canyon High. As a junior, he totaled 87 receptions for 1,098 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 109.8 receiving yards per game. McClary has eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark for his varsity career and will be the Cobras' top returning offensive weapon heading into the 2026 season. His experience and production should help make the transition smoother for Canyon's next starting quarterback.
James Munro | ATH | 5'11", 205 lbs
One of the leaders of Canyon High's senior class, James Munro returns as one of the Cobras' top playmakers. A team captain and League Defensive Player of the Year, Munro put together a dominant junior season, recording 102 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, one pass breakup and a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown. While his impact on defense is well established, Munro also has the tools to be a productive running back. It will be interesting to see if he takes on a larger role offensively this season while continuing to lead the Cobras' defense.
Zack Lachman | ATH | 6'6", 215 lbs
Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 215 pounds, Zack Lachman enters his senior season as one of Canyon High School's top prospects. A two-way standout at tight end and defensive end, Lachman earned All-League honors as a defensive end during his sophomore season before suffering a season-ending injury in the opening game of his junior year. Now back on the field, he has resumed his recruiting journey and recently received his first college offer from Benedictine College.
