Tyson Park refused to let stereotypes define him

Tyson Park plays the game with a level of toughness and physicality that immediately

stands out on film. The IMG Academy product has built his reputation as a compact downhill runner who embraces contact, competes with relentless energy, and brings a tone setting presence on special teams. Along with competing against top national competition, Park has also maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.

Growing up, Park faced constant discrimination while playing football. As an Asian athlete, people questioned whether he truly belonged on the field before he ever had the chance to prove himself. He was overlooked, underestimated, and told that his dream of playing Division I football was unrealistic. Some even laughed at him when he said he believed he would one day play at that level.

Despite all of that, Park never stopped believing in himself.

Through the doubt, disrespect, and lack of recruiting attention, he stayed committed to the process and continued to outwork everyone around him. Whether it was running through contact, lead blocking, or flying down the field on special teams, Park played every snap with an edge and something to prove. His aggressive style of play and relentless motor eventually began to turn heads.

Going into his senior year, Park had little to no recruiting interest, even at the Division III level. Then everything changed when USC stepped in and offered him after USC general manager Chad Bowden took notice of the effort, toughness and heart he displayed on a special teams play.

With his mentality, versatility, and willingness to do the dirty work, Park has continued to prove he belongs at the Division I level. His journey from overlooked recruit to earning an offer from USC is a reminder that belief, persistence, and hard work can outweigh outside perception.
